Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho praised Gareth Bale’s form after his team’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham and said that “nobody can doubt” the Welshman’s quality. “His quality is there,” he said.
“Nobody can doubt that. It’s different if we are talking about whether he can play three games a week. We have to get the best out of him. The other day, we gave him 65 minutes, not 90. If we play him from the beginning, it’s too much for him, it’s a risk. He has to have confidence,” Mourinho continued. “He’s starting to have more intensity. He did well in the second half,” the Portuguese added.
Bale, who gave an assist and hit the crossbar with a shot, played the second 45 minutes in the defeat to West Ham which leaves Tottenham ninth.
He started on the bench after having a good game in the Europa League on Thursday. Given what we saw in his 45 minutes on the pitch, he arguably deserved a bit longer on the park.
