Mingueza almost gifted Elche the equaliser. The full-back lost the ball which was picked up by Rigoni but, in the one-on-one, Ter Stegen pulled off a good save keep the score at 0-1.
Elche almost made it 1-1 in the second half. Mingueza gave the ball away, after a pass from Umtiti, and Rigoni stole the ball and found himself one on one in front of Ter Stegen.
It was the German goalkeeper who appeared to be Barcelona’s ‘Messi-ah’ again. In the one-on-one, Ter Stegen did not give up and held on until the last moment to guess the Elche player’s intention and put his foot out.
A mistake by Mingueza almost cost Barcelona an equaliser, after they had gone ahead in the final stretch of the first half thanks to Diego González and Frenkie de Jong.
The centre-back, who plays at full-back due to Sergi Roberto’s and Dest’s physical problems, seems to have more opportunity when he has to play on the wing.
